Learn more about New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Alyssa Day...

Alyssa Day is the pen name (and dark and tortured alter ego) of Alesia Holliday. She is the New York Times and USA Todaybestselling author of paranormal romance novels.  As Alesia, she writes comedies and nonfiction, and is a winner of Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA award for excellence in romance fiction.  As Alyssa, she has also won many awards, including RT Book Reviews’ Reviewer’s Choice Award for best paranormal romance of 2012.  In her new life as Lucy Connors, she writes gritty contemporary romance novels for teens. (With all that romance writing, you’re probably not surprised to hear that she’s a board member of the amazing writing organization, Romance Writers of America!)

Alyssa was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, and spent her childhood moving all around the world with her family and her U.S. Air Force dad, living in such varied and wonderful places as Colorado, the Philippines, Alaska, Turkey, Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and probably a few other places she has forgotten.

After graduating from The Ohio State University (go Buckeyes!), she worked in the real world for a while but then went to law school, graduating summa cum laude from Capital Law School in Columbus, Ohio. She worked as a trial lawyer in three different states before deciding that she had more fun with the voices in her head than the ones in courtrooms. After marrying Navy Guy, she started on another round of adventures, moving from Ohio to Florida to Seattle to Florida to Virginia to Florida to Japan to Florida(so far!).

A voracious reader, Alyssa has a collection of research books on mythology and history that nearly makes the moving guys cry when they come to pack up her house each time the Navy decides to send her family on a new adventure. When not writing or reading or playing with her varying number of rescue dogs (there are 3 now!), she can be found watching reality TV, going to the movies (she adores really, really bad Sci-Fi movies), travelling, and trying new restaurants. She puts pictures of her adventures up on Facebook and Twitter, and loves to chat with readers, so be sure to join in the conversation!

Alyssa’s WARRIORS OF POSEIDON are a fan favorite, and although the first arc of the series concluded with a BANG in Heart of Atlantis, she still plans to write more books in that world.  The first of the series, Atlantis Rising, was featured on the cover of the March, 2007, issue of Romantic Times BOOKClub magazine (now RT Book Reviews). All of the Warriors of Poseidon novels have rocked the bestseller lists and have been featured in the Rhapsody and Doubleday book clubs. The Warriors novels follow High Prince Conlan of Atlantis and his elite warriors as they protect humanity, save the world, and find amazing human women to fall in love with. (No mermaids, gills, or fish tails; these warriors are 100% pure alpha male!).

Alyssa’s exciting new project is THE LEAGUE OF THE BLACK SWAN, a romance/urban fantasy series that combines her love of the paranormal with a hot contemporary setting.  The first, The Cursed, had readers swooning over Luke, an immortal wizard who falls so fast and so hard for Rio, a human…or is she?... with secrets!

When she’s not playing in her paranormal worlds, Alyssa is the very busy mom to two brilliant children, the wrangler to a varying number of rescue dogs, and the wife of Navy Guy, who may be flying over an ocean near you in his mighty P 3 Orion at this very minute.  For an up close and personal look at what life in the military is like for a family when one spouse/parent has gone to war, check out Alyssa’s E-MAIL TO THE FRONT, in which she used actual emails she and her husband wrote to each other during two separate war time deployments.

And a personal note from Alyssa:

Hello!!  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my site and read this far. I'm having the best time of my life writing stories for people to read and enjoy. It took me four years of college, three years of law school, and several years of working in the "real world" to realize that the characters and worlds in my head would always be more fascinating to me than working for somebody else and pushing papers around a desk.

So here I am, back in Florida from a year in Japan, and writing like crazy!  I’m often on Facebook and Twitter, but to be sure you hear about new releases, get early excerpts, and win the occasional prize, please sign up for my newsletter.

I love hearing from readers - you're the reason I do what I do.

Hugs,
